Persons residing in the Abkhazia or Tskhinvali regions may apply for death registration to any territorial office of the State Services Development Agency or a branch of the Public Service Hall.

The Civil Acts Registration Authority is authorized to register the death of a person who died in Georgia based on a so-called act/document issued in the Abkhazia or Tskhinvali regions, provided that the fact of death is confirmed by a certificate/document issued by an authorized legitimate authority, and that the information/data indicated in the above-mentioned act/document corresponds to the data stored by the Agency, if such data exists.

In case of discrepancies between the information/data and the records maintained by the Agency, death registration is carried out based on the data stored in the Agency’s database.
 

Service period and fee

Death registration is carried out no later than the next working day after submission of the document confirming the death, and the death certificate is issued free of charge.
